It's a paradox I come across often: a wardrobe packed to bursting, and yet that feeling of having “nothing to wear”. The reason is simple — what's hidden is forgotten.
1. See everything at a glance
The first goal: that every garment is visible and within reach without having to move ten others. A wardrobe where you see everything is a wardrobe you wear in full.
2. Group by category, then by frequency
Bring like with like (tops, bottoms, knitwear…), then place what you wear most within easy reach. Everyday pieces at the front, occasional ones up high.
3. One container = one category
Boxes, baskets, dividers: each has a precise role and a clear label. That's what makes the organisation hold over time — far more than buying yet another piece of furniture.
4. Leave room to breathe
A wardrobe filled to the brim falls apart within a week. We deliberately keep some space free: it's the secret to organisation that lasts.
5. Out-of-season clothes
Winter coats in summer, light pieces in winter: we put them “in reserve” (garment bags, boxes up high) to free up everyday space. A simple seasonal sort is then enough to avoid the build-up.
A lighter home means a clearer life.
